Poetry for Scientists
-------------------------------- When Words Deja vu 10/28/10 I've said this before and I'll say it again, let me repeat, I've said this before and I'll say it again... ******* We are 2/23/11- 1/20/13 We are before perception. We exist prior to experience. Here I am. In the end the earth takes us, the sky takes us, the sea... and we move on. ******* Suppose Just Suppose 1/8/13 Aliens who eat gas. Not any gas, carbon dioxide. They're waiting, fattening the pig, feeding us good. We do the rest. Space gas gardens... There's a bad movie here. ******* Golden Mean Does space have to become larger and larger for a spiral to continue to become smaller and smaller? Or would it burrow into space like a screw or Golden Worm? ******* Think Above 12/2012 What was it Einstein said about problem solving? Our existence is so artificial and complicated that only illogical logic can be applied to our thinking. We are a Mobius Strip. ******* Pulp Fiction Science 2012 Shape and form are due to a resistance to light. Light pierces a seed that the germ resists to become a sprout, to grow. Light gets captured by an organizing idea, and another, and another, and before you know it, you have a tree. ******* Stickman's Shadow 2014 Sadly passing on, he left nothing behind but his shadow. He looks good for his age. ******* 7/2/13 Deep in our being is a black hole that when we peer in and enter opens up to the light of the universe. The body is the window into this hidden light. ******* Om fries 6/21/13 Did you hear a bang? I didn't hear a bang. 14 billion years ago...how loud was it? Suppose things just sizzled into existence? The electric sizzle sound of creation, like hotdogs on a griddle. I didn't hear a bang. ******* Big Bang 10/25/07 Why bang, why not unfold open, slide, slip, evolve, spring, spill, blossom, transcend? ******* Little Bang 10/25/07 Suppose God doesn't want to be everywhere, know everything. A local God with local talents and interests. Small miracles, everyday creations. Low key. Comes in unannounced; comes in without a bang. ******* |
Poems from the Heart
------------------------------- February 27, 2003 These are the days of the gods, and we are them. Once everything around you is acknowledged to be alive, you'll realize how you fit in. ******* March 12, 2003 So you want to be perfect? Forgive others' mistakes. Want to be more perfect? Ignore them. ******* March 2, 2003 Love and love only. There's really no other response. All the logic in all the arguments mean nothing. You might think there''s a secret reason to create something else, but there isn't. There is no plan B. Those who came before were captive to their thoughts; we ours. Culture rolls on. But it isn't there that we meet, it's face to face. ******* Support You Too April 4, 2003 I support our troops. I truly do. I want them home safe, now, always. In fact, don't put anyone in harm's way again. I support firemen and rescue, but I don't encourage fires. I support doctors, but I don't encourage disease. Peace supports our troops, and protects you and me. Find a way to make money through peace. ******* Disturbing the Peace April 19, 2003 No matter how hard we try to become civilized, history just repeats itself. We are masters of war and baffoons of peace. If peace were a business and a profit could be made... Memories are strong, imaginations weak. Wake peace anyway. ******* April 4, 2003 I must have fallen on my head when I was very young. By what grave miscalculation did I arrive here? The creator fills all the worlds, even this one. That is what is brought, and that's what we leave with. For good or bad, I buy up divinity with my divinity until I go broke. This wealth is the substance of my grace. ******* July 22, 2003 I found the spigot where I'm pumped into being; the sweet place where I fill out. A steady source infuses me with warm electric honey. Soon a stream becomes a river. The more it rages, the easier it is to get to the other side. ******* 7/17/13 Suppose the creator is only cause and not effect. ******* |
Observations
------------------------------- Personal August 28, 1987 Behind closed doors lie the unwashed conversations with self sometimes spoken aloud with little fear, sometimes with gestures --intense and hidden to the max-- expressed freely. We are not the crazy ones who babble; only the detached would speak without social conscience alone behind closed doors. No one ever gets to see anyone. ******* Bridges in Repair June 2 1988 Descending, at first the view seemed tranquil enough. On my left and right, walls of lime green grow up carved jagged cliffs. Above, heavy thick silver gray clouds scramble along on a north wind, doing way better time than we are. The bay is a shattered mirror, in pieces and uncertain. It's 8 a.m. and on the other side of the bridge is Jamestown, lumpy, lush, beautiful, and waiting... Screeching brakes stop start as the bridge parade begins. We're given a bird's eye view from the helicopter overhead...live coverage... of this traffic jam. THIS IS real! THIS IS live! Give us the damn mic. While the bridge undulates wildly in the wind, we hang above the whitecaps racing to the Atlantic. We've all seen the images where this doesn't end well, Mobius. A bored orange clad flagman chews gum and paces, a blinking yellow light keeps pointing toward the right, but only the arrow is moving. Two seagulls attempt to fly off. They pump hard, but are blown in the opposite direction. Even time passes us by. In my rear view mirror all is left behind, chaotic and disappearing. Except for what becomes a traffic poem. ******* Words are feminine by nature. They cling together and hardly go out alone.. ******* Not Revolution October 2, 1986 When the issue is pushed, that becomes the issue. Opposites transform into one another in time. End it before it begins: force nothing on any one. What tugs on our humanness? The last and ultimate revolt happens with a breath. Love is a verb. Laughter a state of mind. ******* Another garden, a lonely farmer, some grain. Although the ground is frozen, he expects a return. Do you know who the seeds are that he waters in his heart? Then why didn't they grow? ******* February 1988 He tried to kill himself, but cured himself instead. He went to where nothing moves, not even a thought. Giving up death and himself, his burden died too. Now he has a fatal attraction to life. ******* When there's no need to take shelter all doors are open. The wind is always home. |
