Observations
-------------------------------- Journal Entry 8/14/2000 Distracted from writing a poem about Buddha's non-attachment, I look up the symbolic meaning of the deer just appearing in my yard: gentle and related to the image of the Buddha. I know. Detaching from the feeling I'm in a special moment, I make tea and mindlessly dig out the coasters I was given months ago and never used...deer images. I know. But how can I not? ******* 7/20/06 The Caesars fiddled while Rome burned again. In their exquisite hubris they thought they were different. ******* Warrior 8/14/00 There's a day that begins before you rise from your bed: the dawn of your consciousness awakening. It waits for us at the end of sleep, and stays till our last nod. If you were to follow your breath without defeat for every moment between these two points, you would conquer death in a day. ******* NEW! 2/20/06 Change, must have change. Give me the new in a nano or sooner. Change: I want it in a new color. ******* For My Middle School Class 11/04 I worry about stuff. I worry if my teeth are white enough, my hair still brown enough. Am I getting fat, or going flat? Do others like me or care at all? I wonder if I'll ever grow up or old. Am I fun? Are my clothes hip? Is my car cool enough, my bike just right? I worry about Iraq. My rutted driveway. My father, deadlines, and hairlines. The ever pain in my neck. How will I die, the last person I'll see... the last place I'll be. I worry about the stuff I write, and the dust in my house. But most of all and seriously true, I wonder and worry most about you. ******* 10/26/04 The Teachable Moment is for the mind yes, but for the heart especially. Breakthrough moments of uplifting clarity. A whiplash catch-a-breath boost. A recognition of something shared and important. ******* Dying 9/13/12 When your spirit gets so big it doesn't fit anymore. ******* 9/15/12 You know our values are askew when the stores we shop in are nicer than the homes we live in. ******* 8/26/12 Hummingbirds listen to jazz. ******* 8/12/12 Still, to this day the court jester speaks more truth than the king. ******* 8/18/12 Cooperative organisms will be our final competition. ******* |
Observations
-------------------------------- 5/22/03 How are we at accepting gifts? Animated by love we still manage to sabotage our divinity. Flawed thinkers create flawed gods. We're created free. Love holds up, not in. From a reservoir of all tendencies we exercise our being, so vital, we can cause our own demise. Flawed thinkers create flawed goals. We're neither good nor evil, we're just desire. ******* Satellite Imaging 9/26/10 With roots uprooted, rain thunders down into vacuous caverns that slowly dissolve, and in time, no one knows what came before. Clouds drift by like our brave ancestors-- survivors one and all-- gone to mix in a foreign land. Below, ancient fields of brush and cover weave into a fabric that memory can't penetrate. Where are the young men and women who were our mothers and fathers? Under the green canopy there are ghosts waving. ******* Stats 10/30/12 To plot a life out on a number line. Zero to ?? A start, a stop; a beginning, an end. Life on the X and Y axis; the highs, the lows. Month by month, by year, by the moment. How are you stacking up; making progress? Moving along on an upward climb? What's on your Z ? ******* When Words Deja Vu 10/28/10 I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Let me repeat, I've said this before and I'll say it again. ******* 11/14/13 High up in a desolate mountain above a remote village are meager caves where the holy go to retreat from themselves. to make room for the divine. The Holy Gho... Tiny caves to make room for the divine when there's ample room within. Why be a ghost among us, pick up your cave and walk. ******* 8/13/13 Beyond this rusty rusty shore, this rust rusts no more.. ******* 12/18/13 Flashing the southern sun, the earth throws its head back and gasps, exposing the equator's underbelly. Teetering at the zero moment, a mysterious force pulls all back into balance, and the earth begins its six month bow toward the sun. This strange inhale and exhale is the way old people and the seasons breathe. ******* 8/23/13 Here comes the light. Can it come in pieces? The whole thing must be out there somewhere. What takes it so long? ******* Looking at Rocks 3/16/13 Seen one, seen em all. No longer looking through a child's magnifying glass and the wonders therein. Rocks are to walk on. Boulders in transition; solid passing dreams we lie with. Jill loves Bobby forever. The required FU painted large... These loyal brothers and sisters have travelled with us from our beginning, and will be there at our end. Step lightly, be respectful. ******* 9/18/12 We are the new Native Americans. A burden and expendable. No contract is safe. ******* |
Observations
------------------------------------- 2004 Soft snow falling on stone, no crash, no thunder, silent leaving. ******* Living on Another Planet 2004 You can live on another planet; the one you wish for, you pray for; the world that could be. The fool, not living in words, finds a world village. Here on my planet, water is water, and air is air, and both are beyond value. What question, doubt, or debate can there be about this? ******* I didn't love you the best, but I loved you the most. ******* In View 9/24/03 The fly understood the light, but was baffled by the window. ******* 2003 Birds pecking a seed at a time... We, nibble away at moments, the suet of our world. Where are we taking this precious cargo? Do we return with the seeds and fodder of our experiences? We relish forms and fragrances in time. We return with the bloom of that awareness. ******* There's a part of the stomach reserved for anguish. Where the heart is pulled out through the gut. A great and utter emptiness aches there, making room for something essential to grow. ******* 2005 Metaphor What is the meadow for? ******* What's the Bzzz 7/18/06 A bee tests the fabric of my chair. Cellular and honeycombed, he likes it. He lies his belly down on it and soaks up the facts: the math, the color, the feel. With one antennae to the weave, he probes and dances in circles; excavates, and learns. ******* Class of 2006 Assembly Day One 9/2/05 Here it is, the Fall again, and a harvest is being planted. The soil is readied and the seeds eager. What weather will the season bring? Every seed will sprout; they always do, for good or bad. Each in secret will tend their own garden. Amazing, the fruit that comes forth in Summer. In this small expression of infinite possibilities, is the coming and going of destiny. ******* 12/7/09 Administrators come to education, like explorers "discovered" the west. All they had to do was ask. ******* 7/3/00 Say, Who's There? I knocked on the door to the rest of this poem, but nothing answered. ******* |
