Poems from the Heart
------------------------------- 3/13/02 The body and mind may be fettered, but the heart is always free. The beauty of this choice at this time, shines a light in great darkness. Beauty amongst beauty may go unnoticed, but against our dismal backdrop, the subtle becomes distinct, and glorious. ******* 11/30/01 A splash of the sun-- we are here today, gone today, back to the heart of things. Our sun, a splash of that high intensity boiling. Everything will eventually dry up and find its way back. A splash of the sun and we reside in these bodies. until they can no longer hold the image, and we go back to where we came. ******* Life is free, man levies the tax. The journey is a free ride, man creates the tolls. The ultimate gift is this time and place; why the greed and fear? Transformation, it wil cost you. ******* 2/14/84 The tree of knowledge is shade in the Garden. Ignorance is the price we pay for bliss. Distraction is the ego's currency. Fully clothed, can we walk naked in the Garden again? ******* There are bombs of light that may explode in your backyard, to blow away darkness and sorrow. When the sirens sound, run outside. The tears will be of joy, the pain of release. A war worth raging. ******* In the Desert 4/25/01 A mirage is uplifting. A larger mirage more so. Degrees of illusion only matter when we become truly thirsty; while tricked from afar we still have hope, When on our knees scooping up dry sand, the eyes might see water, but the lips don't lie. ******* Muse 10/81 When input wanes, creativity becomes the splendor of unity. ******* 1980 Below the noise and all the hustle, buried deep within, lies what is supreme, and from it life begins. Love breathing breath that flows and flows up and down into the heart that knows to release a feeling that grows and grows. ******* 12/78 Apply pressure to any point on a circle. and it becomes a heart. Apply a heart anywhere and it becomes joy. Take that joy and bind two hearts, and the circle is complete. ******* 5/81 The peace pipe burns within and we are the keepers of the flame. Observations
-------------------------------- Consume June 2, 2002 While birds eat butterflies, I wonder why they get together in this way. In the same way, anything can be torn apart and scattered. I shake my headfull of ideas that the wind blows away like feathers. Nothing ever gets fully explained. While the sun shines the rain falls, washing the green iridescent wing left behind. Ions of evolution gobbled up in seconds. Cosmic entropy, beauty becomes the beast. Events can teach if we look long and closely enough. They teach vocabulary, like the word for the gut wrenching scream that embodies all of the pain of being pecked in two. We redefine the word beast instead, to mean that which consumes beauty in order to become beautiful. Sometimes you aren't what you eat. ******* Ambushed March 22, 2003 We must have created the predator, the carnivores. Mother Nature created plants and the animals that eat them. This is not the world intended. Somebody needs to return and fix things, we can't be trusted. ******* Flora 2002 Something's growing in America. Underneath the armor, in the soft pink middle. Along the coast, high in the mountains, deep in the desert heat... whispers of young sprouts. There are those who would make us believe we are a wasteland, but our gardens say otherwise. ******* Buying It July 18, 2003 We're taught to seek out the utility of others, the costs and benefits of association, the profits of relating, the returns. People: what's in it for me? *******. Benefactor March 16, 2003 When we left the Garden, we were given a gift for our travels, a going away present. "Take this litlle piece of paradise with you. I'll put it where it will be safe." We all know where it is. Can't be lost, harmed or stolen, only drowned out by a million other places. No one but a true Benefactor would keep the best far from our meddling, yet closest to our hearts. ******* Particle Waves April 4, 2003 Suicide bombers.... every bomber is a suicide bomber. One atmosphere surrounds us all. We're all in this together, one body. A person sneezes in China and a cold is caught in Milwaukee. This raindrop that falls from the sky, fell from the eye of Cleopatra. Your exhale will feed the next generation of redwoods.. Physicists and yogis will tell you so. A mobile of unlimited interactions. Free a heart here, break a heart there. Six degrees of separation? Try Dominoes, Pick-up-Sticks. We collide into one another and brand new worlds are formed. Look for the light. My science might be wrong, but I'm right. ******* April 16, 2003 Poems from Eden? I don't think so. What would they use for paper? And what's there to write about, there are no issues. Each day's the same as the last, very cool. All just a rumor. Oral history. But once there are issues, you gotta write it down. The sons and daughters of the Edeners must have been lawyers and accountants, publicists... Could a happy child sing the blues? ******* |
